RECORD 110.000 TEUs!

The SGTD Team is thrilled to share with its customers (consignees/shippers & shipping lines) and other stakeholders that Doraleh Terminal has achieved a major milestone in its history, reaching a record of handling 110,000 TEUs in a single month (March 2024). This record is an important step for the terminal, demonstrating its capacity to handle large volume of cargos for different segments destination – gateway as well as transshipment.
This milestone achievement is a testimony of the relevancy of the vision of the country’s authorities and the support of the Djibouti Ports & Free Zones Authority, as well as the dedication and hard work of the SGTD Terminal team; and the recent investments in state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, particularly the new four (4) ULCV’s cranes and the 1st phase of the sea yard extension.
The SGTD Doraleh Terminal will continually increase its storage and throughput capacity during the next 6 years bringing the current operational capacity of 1.5M TEU in March 2024, to 3.5M TEU in 2030, with an immediate increase of 300k TEU (land yard extension) by December 2024, an additional +400k TEU by 2026 (sea yard extension) and finally the quay length extension and an additional sea yard expansion by 2030 to reach the target of 3.5M TEU.
The firm commitment in investing into the terminal capacity increase, and maintaining a high-level operational efficiency is aimed to ensure coping with the high growth perspective of the gateway market volume and enhance the growth of the transshipment activity, which in return should benefit to the gateway clients “consignees and shippers” by having more competitive sea freight rates.
