The SGTD Doraleh Terminal achieved a historic milestone in October 2024 by surpassing 1 million TEU (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) in just 10 months, marking the first time in its history. The terminal expects to reach 1.2 million TEU by the end of the year. This record reflects a mix of origin & destination (O&D) and transshipment traffic, bolstering its position as a key transshipment hub in the Red Sea region. This success is the result of an outstanding dedication and commitment from everyone to establish sustainable business conditions: the unwavering support of our customers, the loyalty and dedication of our team and the vision of Djiboutian Authorities to invest in modern facilities and equipment. Commenting on this achievement, both the Chairman of the DPFZA, Mr. Aboubaker Omar Hadi, and the CEO of SGTD Doraleh Terminal, Mr. Abdillahi Adaweh Sigad, congratulated all the parties involved in setting this new record which has reinforced the terminal’s role as a major actor in the region. SGTD’s strategic location at the crossroads of East-West and North-South shipping routes, along with its advanced facilities and equipment, underscores its role as a major gateway for Eastern Africa and a leader in regional trade and logistics. The terminal operates 3 berths with 12 Ship-to-Shore cranes, including 4 ULCVs cranes, and has an annual capacity of 1.6 million TEU.
